As we move away from the traditional working model, our new workplace truly allows for a higher degree of flexibility and connectivity across all of our teams both in the office, on the construction site and in times of transitions between projects,” says Kane’s Managing Director Tristan Forster. This sentiment aligns closely to Schiavello’s Purposeful Workplace ethos, where multiple spaces varying in function enable a curation of experiences based on diverse and evolving needs.

This is just the beginning of the similarities between Kane and Schiavello. Both are Melbourne-based institutions that have thrived over decades by fully understanding and adapting to individual project needs as well as evolving trends in the ways people engage with the spaces around them. This future focus is not only a value reflected in Kane’s everyday business activities; it is now physically embodied through the design and fit out of its space.

Movement in the office

Why movement in the office is the key to good healthand happiness

Simply transitioning from a seated to standing work posture every 30- 45 minutes can lead to a significant reduction in fatigue and lower back discomfort, whilst maintaining work productivity. Our flexible Krossi collection addresses the need for movement in the workplace. Other organisational benefits include: Improve attraction and retention of employees: People are an organisation’s most important asset. By establishing flexibility and mobility, while improving employees’ personal needs, an organisation can improve comfort levels and reduce physical and psychological stress levels. Flexible tools and technology: Just as each individual is different, so too is the way we behave and move. By giving people the space, tools and technologies they need to be effective, the holistic workplace can drive fundamental value back to the organisation. Empower the user: Providing users with the autonomy to ‘choose the place they need’ increases effectiveness, as users have greater capacity to manage their physical and psychological comfort. They can also transition more naturally between work modes as their workspace needs shift and change throughout the day.

Flexible workstations

Flexible workstations for diverse needs

Freestanding, fixed height workstations complete the clean aesthetic of executive offices, while various configurations of back-to-back clusters line the main work floor. These sit-to-stand clusters are thoughtfully designed to maximise flexibility - both for individual preferences and team-wide working styles - while using less materials for the sustainably-minded Kane. For more casual working requirements, an adapted Krossi desk with an open semi-circle table top bookends the Neo Workstations to provide a relaxed, informal location for quick collaborations, while Krossi Tables bring to life the social spaces crucial to creating connected teams in this time of hybrid working.
